Level Term Life | Multi-Benefit Accident
4 plans to suit your needs
Choose benefits up to $200,000, $300,000, or $400,000, depending on your age and your family's
needs. Each plan pays its highest benefits when your responsibilities are greatest. You benefit from this arrangement in that your overall premiums are
lower so that when you grow older and are on a fixed income, you will not be paying higher and higher premiums as with many other types of life insurance.
Premiums start at just $10 a month and do not increase as you grow older
Imagine, for as little as $10 a month you can have as much as $200,000 life insurance protection to assure your loved ones’ futures in the event of your death. Plus
your premiums are level; they do not increase as you grow older.
Since the plan’s introduction in 1960, AFAVBA has provided year end dividends - based on actual program experience - to participants in most years. For example:
Whole family coverage for just $2.50
Regardless of the level of coverage you choose, an additional $2.50 each month can insure your spouse and all of your unmarried dependent children up to 21
years of age.
No war clause...no extra charge for flying status personnel
Here is a valuable feature you won't find in many other life insurance policies! In the interest of
Veterans and their dependents, this
AFAVBA program has no limitation or
restriction on the payment of benefits should the insured be killed in a war or act of war.
Likewise, there is no restriction on benefits or extra premium charged to personnel who are on flying status.
AFAVBA’s plan provides full coverage for all
Veterans...all the time...at the same cost!
Coverage guaranteed renewable to age 95
Once issued, AFAVBA’s
Decreasing Term Life Insurance is renewable to age 95,
regardless of any changes in your health. Your coverage can
only be terminated if you do not pay your premium, or the master policy is discontinued.
Guaranteed conversion privileges regardless of your health at the time
Your coverage is guaranteed convertible to permanent insurance on the first premium due date following your 95th birthday. At that
time, you may select any permanent life insurance then offered by Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, regardless of your health. The maximum amount of
coverage convertible is the amount of your group coverage at the time.
No further premiums due if you become disabled
If, prior to your attainment of age 60, you become totally disabled and the disability lasts for at least 9 months while your coverage is in force, you may apply for
the Disability Waiver of Premium Benefit. Upon approval, your coverage will remain in force without further payment of premium on your part, for as long as
you continue to be totally disabled and are otherwise eligible for coverage, to age 95, at the lowest level of coverage.
Full choice of settlement options
All standard settlement options, as well as special options mutually agreed to, are available under the terms of this
AFAVBA plan.
Expedited claim service to fill your emergency needs
Generally, benefits are paid by the underwriter within 5-10 days of proof of death.
Convenience plus Money-Back Guarantee

Convenient payment options
Premiums may be paid directly to
AFAVBA quarterly, semiannually or annually. Or you
may prefer to pay monthly by government allotment, automatic debit from your checking account or automatic charge to your VISA or MasterCard. Many choose the latter ways so
as to eliminate additional bills and the necessity of writing and mailing checks.
Satisfaction guaranteed
If you are not completely satisfied with your coverage when you receive your
Certificate of Insurance, simply return it to us within 30 days. Any premium paid will be refunded to you in full.
Certificates are dated and take effect on the last day of the month in which the
application is approved. Of course, if you do not receive approval, your premium will be returned to you
Who is eligible to apply?
Both smokers and non-smokers are eligible to apply if you’re under age 65 and meet one of the following requirements:
- You are serving or have served in the U.S. Military;
- You are the spouse or widow(er) of someone who is serving or has served in the U.S. Military.
- You are the ancestor or lineal descendent of someone who is serving or has served in the U.S. Military. (This means children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, etc. and parents and grandparents of someone with U.S. Military Experience. It does not include aunts and uncles.)
Want coverage in excess of $400,000? Consider supplementing coverage under this plan with
