DentalPlans.Com
There were many areas where AFA
members and AFAVBA participants
reside where no dentists were available in the original dental network.
In order to fill many of those gaps, we have contracted with
DentalPlans.Com to offer AFA members a 20% discount off the regular
rates for their dental networks.
DentalPlans.Com offers a selection
of over 30 nationwide and regional discount dental plans. With the
most dentists in combined networks anywhere, several discount dental
plans may be available in your area. With its unique search tool, you
can enter your zip code to find which networks have participating
dentists in your area, then compare the savings and features of each
plan before deciding which would be the best plan for you. With the
AFAVBA discount, plans will range from $5.33 to $9.33 per month for
individuals, depending upon the plan chosen. When signing up,

Preventive Health Screenings
Did you know that you may be at risk for life-threatening diseases and yet have no symptoms? Life Line Screening can
evaluate your risk for several of today’s most critical – and often undiagnosed – healthcare problems. In less than an
hour, you can be screened with painless, non-invasive, advanced ultrasound technology for stroke and other disease
prevention.
The screenings are performed by a highly qualified and skilled technologist and reviewed
by a board-certified physician. You’ll receive a confidential written report within 21 days and are encouraged to share
the results with your doctor.
Offered locally at community sites coast-to-coast, Life Line Screening may be coming to
your neighborhood.
Screenings at a Glance
- Stroke / Carotid Artery Screening: Strokes are most commonly related to plaque
build-up in the carotid artery. This ultrasound test is performed by applying gel and a transducer along your neck to
view the carotid arteries for blockage.
- Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) Screening: An abdominal aortic aneurysm
is a “ballooning” of the wall in the abdominal aorta. The majority of people with AAAs have no symptoms. If an AAA ruptures,
the mortality rate is 80-90 percent. More than 15,000 U.S. residents per year die of AAAs. The good news is that AAAs can
be identified via an ultrasound screening.
- Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) Screening: Eight to twelve million Americans suffer from
PAD. It is 4-5 times more likely that you will die from heart disease if you have PAD. Ultrasound technology is used to
screen for PAD (plaque buildup in the arms and legs).
- Osteoporosis Screening: Loss of bone mass can leave your bones fragile and vulnerable to
fracture. Your bone mass health and risk for disease can be assessed by placing your heel in an ultrasound device called
a bone densitometer.
