One Full Time Scholarship to Grantham University is Awarded

The Air Force Association is pleased to announce the first recipient of the Grantham Scholarship is Lieutenant Colonel Guy Fritchman (Ret). Grantham University has agreed to support one full scholarship annually for AFA to award. This will be the first year AFA has awarded the Grantham University Scholarship. This four-year scholarship, bearing a total value of approximately $28,000, is presented to an Active Duty Dependent, an AFA Member, or a dependent of an AFA Member to Grantham University, and also includes required books and software. Grantham University is recognized as a leading distance educator and has educated technology and engineering students from around the world over the past 54 years.

The recipient of this scholarship this year is an extremely commendable candidate. Mr. Fritchman is currently a professor at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT). His colleague credits him with the ability to continuously “update curriculum to accommodate the constantly changing acquisition and logistics needs of the Air Force and Department of Defense (DoD) workforce”, which is certainly not an easy task. Additionally, he is committed to improving his workplace. He not only serves as President our the Faculty Council, but also serves on standing and ad hoc committees dedicated to the development of the school, their courses and the faculty. It is clear that he is counted on by his colleagues to fulfill any obligations and takes initiative to do so.

In addition to educating over 800 Air Force and DoD professionals annually through courses, seminars and workshops, he has also been a guest lecturer at the Air War College. Also, he has co-authored several professional papers related to logistics and other topics that have been published in professional journals. Finally he has also been awarded “Civilian of the Quarter” by his faculty.

Mr. Fritchman has already received his Master of Science Degree in Logistics Management just over twenty years ago, however he is in a pursuit of a Master of Business Administration in order to obtain a more current graduate degree. This will certainly sharpen his skills and make him an extremely knowledgeable educator for his students. He plans to pursue an MBA with an emphasis in project management since much of the coursework he currently teaches is related to project management. This degree will unquestionably enhance his expertise and versatility as an educator.
